Habtoor Leighton Group CEO arrested in Dubai

The chief executive of international contracting firm Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) was arrested in Dubai on Wednesday.

 

Jose Antonio López-Monís was arrested “as a result of a complaint filed with police in Dubai,” HLG's parent company CIMIC Group said in the statement to the Australian Securities Exchange Limited ASX.

 

It added that HLG was assisting López-Monís and the company would inform the market of further developments.

 

The statement contained no details on the arrest.

 

HLG's projects in the UAE include the Burj Al Arab hotel, Kempinski Hotel & Residences Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Pearl and St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi.
