The contractors invited to bid for the project are said to include Lebanon’s Arabian Construction Company; Belgium’s Six Construct; US-based Tishman; and Dutco Balfour Beatty, the Dubai-based joint venture of UK’s Balfour Beatty.
Emaar is expected to award the project by the end of the year.
Last month, it was reported that structural work on the tall tower will likely be split into two packages, one for the concrete tower, and another for the steel frame at the top of the building.
The tower, which will cost about $1 billion to construct, is slated for completion in time for Expo 2020. The building will be 100 meters taller than Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, which is currently the world’s tallest tower with a height of 828 meters.
The consultants working on the project are Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava Valls and the Dubai office of Australian-South African consultancy Aurecon, supported by the UK’s RMJM. The project manager for the development is US-based Parsons.
