31/10/2016 Argaam

Saudi Arabia’s appointed consultative body, the Shura Council, rejected Monday a proposal to allow women to drive in Saudi Arabia.

The proposal needed 72 approval votes to pass, but 62 members rejected the idea, while 66 supported it.

Shura member Sultan al-Sultan has recently proposed to urge the ministry of social development and interior ministry to cooperate to create the right environment for women to drive in order to ease the transportation burden on Saudi families.
