Marafiq awards SAR 500 mln contact for Jubail plant expansion

Marafiq, the utility services provider for the industrial cities of Jubail and Yanbu in Saudi Arabia, has awarded a SAR 500 million ($133 million) contract for the expansion of the wastewater treatment plant in Jubail, it said in a statement on Thursday.

 

The engineering, procurement and design (EPC) contract for the expansion of sanitary wastewater treatment plant-9 (SWTP-9) was awarded to a consortium led by India-headquartered VA Tech Wabag.

 

SWTP-9 stage 6 expansion will consist of a "stand-alone" treatment works" to treat sanitary wastewater from Jubail and its industrial city, the statement added.

 

In a separate statement posted on the Bombay Stock Exchange, VA Tech Wabag said Marafiq plans to expand the plant in two phases to a total capacity of 200,000 cubic meter per day.
