The profit growth was attributed to a rise in revenue, supported by strong performance across all business segments. The retail segment delivered an exceptional 15.2% year-on-year (YoY) growth, fueled by increased revenues in both the pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical product categories.
Ramadan also played a key role in boosting the strong performance of the first quarter. In addition, the healthcare and retail segments in the UAE continued to deliver robust sales growth of 76.4% and 43.9% YoY, respectively.
Gross profit rose by 10.5% YoY, driven by strong sales performance across the retail business segments. The gross margin, however, stood at 36.1%, compared to 38.1% in the year-earlier period. The margin pressure was primarily attributed to the accelerated growth in the healthcare services and e-commerce segments, which operate at lower gross margins, despite benefiting from reduced operating expenses.
Operating profit grew by 16.6% YoY, in line with the increase in sales, supported by higher gross profit.
On the other hand, operating expenses partially increased to SAR 50.1 million, as the company continued to invest in its strategic initiatives in various fields.
In addition, non-operating expenses increased by SAR 28 million, primarily due to higher bank charges and interest expenses related to lease liabilities.
Q1 2025 net profit soared 61.6% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) from SAR 157.9 million.
Total shareholders’ equity, no minority interest, stood at SAR 2.44 billion by March 31, 2025, compared to SAR 2.31 billion a year earlier.
