Oil prices fall amid supply increase concerns

Oil prices edged down on Monday as US output restarted with the weakening of Hurricane Delta, and as the workers strike that impacted Norway’s production ended.

Brent crude was trading down 0.8% at $42.51 a barrel, at 8.45 am Makkah time.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures also fell 0.8% to $40.28 a barrel.

The prices had also declined on Friday after Norway oil firms came to a settlement with labour union officials, resolving a strike that threatened to cut the country’s oil and gas output by close to 25%.

Meanwhile, in the US, Hurricane Delta was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone by Sunday, bringing respite for offshore Gulf of Mexico energy producers.
