State Properties General Authority wins court ruling worth SAR 2.2 bln

The State Properties General Authority announced that the General Court of Makkah issued a ruling, worth SAR 2.2 billion, in its favor after paying the amounts related to the expropriation of two properties in Makkah.

Ihsan Bafakih, governor of the authority, said in a statement that the lawsuit is the first of its kind in terms of size, noting that the authority will continue to apply the standards of transparency, fairness and governance in the expropriation of properties.

He added that the authority will also set controls to evaluate properties, and will seek to achieve its goal of preserving the Kingdom's real estate and protecting the public property.

In addition, the authority will study similar files that have some observations and statutory violations that require amendment, as per a transparent regulatory framework and a set of specifications and standards necessary to achieve the reliable governance of the Kingdom's real estate.
