National Water Co. (NWC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qiddiya Investment Co., under which it will supply Qiddiya project with fresh and treated water, according to the company's statement.

The agreement, which has a tenor of three years, comes as part of NWC's plans that are focused on providing services within sustainable environmental development. It also targets the strategic projects that best serve the objectives of Saudi Vision 20230, in terms of economy, tourism, heritage and environment, the company added.

Nearly 20,000 cubic meters of fresh water and about 70,000 cubic meters of treated water will be pumped into the project on a daily basis, NWC’s chief executive Mohammed Al-Mowkley, said.

He added that the services to be provided by the company also include building a drainage system for untreated water in Dhurma and Al-Muzahmiya governorates and linking them to the water treatment plant owned by Qiddiya Investment.

This will increase the volume of treated water and maximum its utilization. This will also contribute to supporting the drive towards protecting the environment and fight pollution, as well as expanding the green areas and setting up a model life style for tourists and visitors to the entertainment project.
