The decision of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) to target Saudization of 30% of accounting jobs was based on the fact that the number of jobseekers in that sector does not exceed such a percentage, Ghazi Al-Shahrani, Deputy Minister for Nationalization, HRSD told Al Arabiya TV.

If this percentage is achieved, all jobseekers in the market will be employed.

The official also noted that 9,000 accountants and 2,000 finance jobseekers are registered in the National Labor Gateway (Taqat).

This percentage will increase gradually according to the number of graduates, while taking into consideration the capacity of education outputs and the ability of the private sector to absorb more graduates, Al-Shahrani indicated.

Ahmad Al-Rajhi, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD), issued a decision on Dec. 23, 2020, to Saudize 30% of the accounting jobs, Argaam's data showed.

The decision, to be effective as of Dhu al-Qi'dah 1, 1442 AH (June 12, 2021), is applicable to all local private entities with at least five accounting professionals. The move aims to provide more than 9,800 job opportunities.
