Mawani, Hapag-Lloyd sign deal to increase containers in Saudi ports

Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) signed today, Feb. 10, a one-year commercial agreement with international shipping liner, Hapag-Lloyd, to increase the number of containers in Saudi ports.

Mawani said in a statement that this will contribute to increasing the shipping operations at Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP) and strengthen its role in the direct link between the ports of East and West due to its strategic location - considered a link between the three continents of the world - a major hub on regional and international levels, and a direct contributor to strengthening the Kingdom's position as a leading logistics location, in addition to facilitating global supply chains.

This agreement reflects the confidence of global maritime shipping lines in the capabilities offered by Mawani, as well as the important position that JIP represents in the global trade movement in the Red Sea.

The agreement is a continuation of the initiatives launched as part of an ambitious strategy to increase linking the Kingdom's ports with global ports, and attract major shipping companies, in line with the goals of Vision 2030 towards establishing Saudi Arabia's position in terms of investment and logistics.
