Saudi Arabia contributes $713 mln to support global COVID-19 relief effort: official

Saudi Arabia so far contributed more than $713 million to addressing the COVID-19 pandemic globally and help countries in need to combat it, SPA reported, citing Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Adviser at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief).

The Kingdom provided, during its hosting of the G20 summit for 2020, $500 million to support international efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic and to manufacture and distribute an anti-virus vaccine.

“We, as members of the GVAI Covax initiative, are still far from achieving our goals and objectives, but we are moving forward in carrying out our tasks. We have a great responsibility to reconsider increasing global production and distribution of vaccine and easing export restrictions, all of which hinder efforts to accomplish our mission,” Al-Rabeeah said.
