MEWA, SFDA deny news about food products rejected in Europe

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) and Saudi Food and Drug General Authority (SFDA) denied news that the Kingdom accepts the agricultural products rejected in Europe and other countries due to pesticide residues or any reasons related to product safety.

 

They confirmed that they apply the regulation of maximum limits for pesticide residues in the agricultural and food products to ensure their safety. This regulation comes in line with the legislation issued by the Codex Alimentarius Commission, which has set limits for pesticide residues compatible with the Joint Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) / World Health Organization (WHO) Meeting on Pesticide Residues (JMPR).

 

Both MEWA and SFDA emphasized that the safety of the agricultural and food products is a top priority for all government agencies.
