Saudi bank loans to public, private sectors rise 16% to SAR 1.986 trln in May

Saudi bank loans granted to the public and private sectors increased 16% by the end of May 2021 to SAR 1.986 trillion, compared to SAR 1.709 trillion a year earlier, according to data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

 

Private sector lending also rose 16% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 1.904 trillion for the same month.

 

Meanwhile, loans granted to non-financial public sector institutions amounted to about SAR 81.9 billion at the end of May, an increase of 34%, compared to the same period in 2020.
