Hamad Al Al-Sheikh, Minister of Education

Saudi Arabia's Minister of Education Hamad Al Al-Sheikh said that the ministry will start implementing new curricula of global series in the upcoming "exceptional" academic year and setting new study plans that constitute three semesters.

Speaking at a press conference today, Aug. 19, the minister indicated that primary school students will start learning online until Oct. 30 via the "Madrasty" platform, while kindergarten will learn via the "Rawdaty" platform.

Meanwhile, Al-Sheikh said that in-person attendance will be mandatory for university vocational training schools and preparatory and secondary school students after receiving two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

However, the students who have not received the vaccine will not be allowed to attend school to ensure the safety of students, teachers and their families. Teachers will upload the lessons daily on the "Madrasty" platform as an alternative means of education.

The minister noted that classes will be suspended for 10 days if a COVID-19 infection case is reported among students, and the process will shift to e-learning.
