Saudi Cabinet approves setting up defense development authority, personal data protection law

The Saudi Cabinet, chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz today, Sept. 14, took the following decisions:

 

- Approving that the Saudi Ports Authority in agreement with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) to undertake marine infrastructure projects to develop the cruise industry in the Kingdom. 

 

- Approving the establishment of the General Authority for Defense Development, with legal, financial and administrative independence and linked to the Prime Minister. The authority defines the objectives of research, development and innovation activities related to the fields of technology and defense systems, as well as setting its policies and strategies.

 

- Approving the Anti-Begging Law.

 

- Approving the Personal Data Protection Law.

 

- Approving a guidebook to propose enactment of provisions of administrative violation and its penalty.

 

- Approving a technical linkage among the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) for exchanging information and data related to neglected or damaged vehicles in order to verify no security restrictions before taking any measure regarding these vehicles.

 

- Approving the final account of the Water and Electricity Regulatory Authority (WERA) for the previous fiscal year.
