The Ministry of Energy is seeking, with the backing of the relevant entities, to increase the energy contribution to the Kingdom’s gross domestic product (GDP), according to the ministry’s Twitter account.

This will come through the localization of equipment and services and the development of national cadres.

This came after Siemens Energy launched the new expansion project in Dammam to stand as an integrated services hub for the energy sector. The expansion project also represents a step, in line with the localization strategy aimed at localizing 70% of the energy products by 2030.

Germany’s Siemens operates two plants in Damam second industrial city; the first one spans 70,000 square meters (sqm) for the production of gas turbines, and the second plant extends on 1,500 sqm and manufactures remote control boards, data compiled by Argaam showed.
