SAPTCO signs contract to launch public bus transport project in Dammam, Qatif

The Emirate of the Eastern Province announced today, Jan. 23, signing of a contract with Saudi Public Transport Co. (SAPTCO) to launch a public bus transport project in Dammam and Qatif.

 

Rumaih Al-Rumaih, President of the Transport General Authority, said the authority is working, in cooperation with the Eastern Province Municipality, to prepare and provide this project with eight lanes with a total distance of 453 kilometres, as well as 212 stops.

 

The project will also include 85 buses to transport passengers, Al-Rumaih added.

 

Earlier this month, SAPTCO received a notification of awarding a project with the Eastern Province Municipality for the public bus transport project in Dammam and Al-Qatif, for a period of five years. The project value is SAR 149.6 million, including value-added tax (VAT) at 15%, according to data available with Argaam.
