Saudi Arabia launches public bus transport project in Jazan

Prince Mohammed bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Jazan, launched today, Feb. 16, the public bus transport project in Jazan (Jizan, Sabya and Abo Araish).

 

The project consists of nine routes, with 47 buses dedicated to providing public transportation services in this project. It also includes 84 stops in the metropolis of Jazan, serving the region's residents and visitors, 24 hours a day.

 

The Transport General Authority began the implementation of the first phase of public transport projects in the regions and cities of the Kingdom, which include the city of Buraydah and the province of Aniza, the Eastern Region in Dammam and Qatif, in addition to Taif governorate, through a mechanism to finance these projects, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, in accordance with the terms and conditions for the operation of these projects in coordination with the National Center for Privatization and Non-Oil Revenues Development Center.

 

In October 2019, the Saudi Cabinet approved operating public bus transport networks as a first stage in some cities and provinces of the Kingdom, including six cities and provinces, according to data compiled by Argaam.

 

In its first phase, the resolution applies to the capital of Jazan (Jizan, Sabya and Abo Araish), as well as Buraydah, Aniza and Taif.
