Prince Abdullah bin Khalid bin Sultan, Saudi Ambassador to Austria and the Kingdom’s Governor to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said the Kingdom established the Saudi Nuclear Energy Holding Co. (SNEHC).

The move aims to develop the Country Program Framework for the period of 2022–2027 and use nuclear energy as part of the national energy mix, the prince said during the session of IAEA Board of Governors held from March 7-11. He added that the company will operate and develop nuclear facilities for the production of energy, desalinated water and thermal applications, as well as develop a strategy for the development of human capital in the field of atomic energy.

This will be through cooperation with the International Institutes for Atomic Energy Research and the company’s work on creating a national digital platform to build and attract human capabilities in the field of atomic energy, the prince noted.

He concluded that the Kingdom, in cooperation with the IAEA and other parties, organized specialized conferences and workshops with a main focus on radiological applications.
