Prices of 138 Saudi goods, services rise in March

Prices of 24 goods and services in Saudi Arabia decreased year-on-year (YoY) in March 2022, while prices of 138 out of 166 goods and services rose, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Out of the 91 food products, local tomatoes recorded the biggest rise by 44.63% YoY, followed by imported tomatoes with a 38.89% increase YoY.

 

On the other hand, Indian cardamom and American cardamom saw the steepest decline YoY by 18.64% and 14.06%, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, prices of 31 construction materials increased YoY in March, while the prices of the remaining seven materials declined during the same month.

 

Prices of all 11 fodder and livestock products increased YoY during the month.

 

For clothes, eight items saw an increase in prices last month, while the remaining two declined.

 

Two out of four personal services saw a YoY rise in March.

 

Prices of all four detergents increased last month, compared to the same period a year earlier.

 

Elsewhere, one of the three healthcare services was up, and the other two declined.

 

Similarly, prices of one out of two services under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation grew in March YoY.

 

Prices of one out of two hotel and furnished apartment services rose on an annual basis in March.

 

Under tobacco, prices of Marlboro cigarettes increased by 0.61% per pack YoY.
