Saudi merchandize imports rise to SAR 59.9 bln in June; China top exporter at 21%

Saudi Arabia’s merchandize imports rose 29% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 59.9 billion in June 2022, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

 

Imports for June increased MoM by SAR 5.31 billion, or 10%, as shown below:

The increase in the Kingdom’s imports in June was driven by a SAR 3.29 billion, or 135%, rise in “metal products” and a SAR 2.55 billion, or 29%, increase in "machinery and mechanical appliances; electrical equipment; parts thereof". This is in addition to other sections.

Saudi Arabia’s largest imports came from China, amounting to SAR 12.7 billion and accounting for 21% of the total value of imports in June.

 

The US and the UAE came in second and third, at 8% and 7%, respectively.

 

The top 10 countries, from which imports were made, accounted for about 62.4% of the total imports, equivalent to SAR 37.4 billion, as the following table shows:
