National Water Co. (NWC) concluded a long-term contract with Alkhorayef Water and Power Technologies Co. (AWPT) to renovate, operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants in Manfuha, Riyadh, for 15 years, the company said in a statement picked by Argaam.

The contract is valued at over SAR 1.6 billion ($433 million), at a tariff of SAR 0.41 cubic meters per day (m3/day) ($0.11 m3/day).

The scope of work includes the renovation, operation and maintenance of three wastewater treatment plants in Riyadh, with a total capacity of 700,000 m3/day.

This is AWPT’s third long-term operation and maintenance (LTOM) contract, aligning with the company’s related strategic plans.

“NWC plans to launch 113 treatment plants at a total capacity of 2.4 million m3/day as of 2024 at competitive prices. These investment opportunities will attract local and global consortiums,” said NWC's CEO Nemer Al-Shebel.

NWC seeks to support the Kingdom’s economy via the water sector projects, while targeting long-term partnerships with the global and local private sectors.
