Saudi merchandise imports rise to SAR 201.4B in Q4 2023

Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports grew by 3% year-on-year (YoY) to almost SAR 201.4 billion in Q4 2023, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

On a quarterly basis, merchandise imports fell by 1%, or nearly SAR 1.9 billion.

The YoY increase in the Kingdom’s Q4 2023 imports was driven by machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment and parts thereof, as well as vehicles, aircraft, vessels and associated transport equipment, which dominated 23% and 19%, respectively, of the total.

China topped the Kingdom's list of exporting countries with SAR 44.3 billion, accounting for 22% of total imports in Q4 2023.

 

The US and the UAE followed, at 10% and 7%, respectively.
