Maaden Phosphate Co. restarts Ammonia plant operations

Saudi Arabian Mining Company’s (Maaden) subsidiary Maaden Phosphate Company (MPC) resumed operations at its ammonia plant on Friday after successfully completing repairs on its heat exchanger.

 

The company said it was able to meet its obligations towards its customers, without recording significant financial impact.

 

The plant produces ammonia for the manufacturing of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP).

 

The shutdown had no impact on DAP production due to the availability of sufficient ammonia inventories, the company said in a filing to Tadawul.

MPC is a limited liability company co-owned by Maaden, which holds 70 percent, and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) at 30 percent.

 

Maaden had announced earlier that MPC would shut down its Ammonia plant for 14 days starting Aug. 21 for maintenance and repairs, according to data compiled by Argaam.
