Saudi Ceramic Co. began commercial operation at its red brick plant on Sunday, after completion of the trial run.

The plant is expected to reach its maximum production capacity by the end of the second quarter, the company added in a statement to the Saudi bourse, Tadawul.

The project total cost stood at SAR 175 million; higher than the estimated cost of SAR 150 million due to an increase in production capacity to SAR 330,000 ton per annum (tpa) from 264,000 tpa.

The ceramic manufacturer said it expects the first phase of the plant to deliver SAR 65 million sales annually when fully operational, adding that the financial impact would show as of the second quarter of this year.

The company started trial operations at the plant on Sept. 21, 2015 after the necessary equipment were installed.
