Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Co. awarded on Thursday a contract worth $116 million (SAR 435 million) to Wison Engineering Services Co. Ltd for its ethylene oxide debottlenecking project in Jubail, the Saudi firm said in a bourse statement.

The Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract will be financed by local institutions.

Kayan said it expects to complete the project in H2-2017.

The trial run date, along with related financial impact will be announced after the facility is built.

The debottlenecking project comes as part of the company’s agreement with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC), under which Kayan will boost the production of ethylene to a minimum of 93 ton per year, and pure ethylene oxide to a minimum of 61 ton per year, Kayan previously said.
