Saudi banks’ treasury bond holdings up SAR 16 bln in April

Saudi banks’ investments in Treasury bonds increased by SAR 16.2 billion month-on-month to SAR 194.9 billion in April, according to monthly data from the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority’s (SAMA).

 

Meanwhile, assets held by SAMA dropped by SAR 15.3 billion in April, hitting a five-year low.

 

The kingdom had issued local and international debt instruments worth SAR 200.1 billion by the end of 2016, according to data compiled by Argaam. The Saudi finance minister recently said he expected the Kingdom to resume issuing local bonds in the current or the next quarter.
