Westinghouse considers group bid for Saudi nuclear tender

21/11/2017 Argaam

Toshiba-owned Westinghouse is in talks with US companies to form a consortium to bid for the construction of two nuclear power reactors in Saudi Arabia, Reuters has reported, citing unnamed sources.

Saudi Arabia in October sent a request for information (RFI) to reactor constructors around the world, paving the way for opening a formal tender.

The Kingdom is seeking to use atomic power to generate electricity and export more oil.

It is considering building 17.6 GW of nuclear capacity by 2032, while the first two reactors could have a combined capacity of up to 2.8 GW, according to earlier news reports.
