Egypt’s Zohr Gas Field is set to start production before the end of 2017 with an initial production of 350 million cubic feet per day, Al Ahram newspaper reported, citing the Egyptian petroleum ministry.

The field’s output will be increased gradually to 1 billion cubic feet daily by mid-2018. Output is expected to hit 2.7 billion cubic feet a day upon the project’s completion in late 2019.

The Zohr field was discovered in 2015 by Italy’s Eni in the Egyptian sector of the Mediterranean Sea. It is the largest ever natural gas find in the Mediterranean.
