04/02/2018 Argaam

Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) has signed an agreement with the General Directorate of Traffic to include "no auto insurance policy" as a traffic violation, Okaz newspaper reported.

Under the agreement, uninsured vehicles will automatically be registered through the traffic inspection records. The insurance violation will be added to the previous traffic violation with a minimum period of 72 hours between registering both violations.

Additionally, a specialized committee will be studying the possibility of applying electronic car licenses and modifying them to be annual licenses, determine their fees and fines, and organize workshops aiming to raise the efficiency of handling traffic accidents, the report said.
