Saudi Arabia to support Ejar defaulters with up to SAR 22,000: report

Saudi Arabia’s housing ministry plans to support the citizens who rented their homes through the electronic Ejar system and fail to pay their rents with up to SAR 22,000 as of August, Al-Eqtisadiyah newspaper reported.

 

Around 3,000 Saudis on Ejar were proven in need after failing to pay their rents, the report said, adding that the number could increase upon allocating a budget for the support program.

 

The funds will be provided from the collected Ejar fees, it added.

 

The ministry also plans to add to the program defaulted citizens who are not registered at Ejar and were sued at enforcement courts for failing to pay their rents due to poor financial solvency.

 

The finance ministry is working on a development program that aims to prevent such cases in the future, it added.
