Saudi Ports cuts storage fee’s exemption period to 5 days

31/10/2018 Argaam

Saudi Ports Authority and Saudi Customs have reduced the exemption period for storage fees to five days instead of ten days.

The move aims to facilitate trade movement and support national economy. It will ease imports’ procedures and accelerate the evacuation of storage areas in order to keep-up with imports’ increase.

Under the new rule, storage fees will be collected after five days of unloading the shipment, until the goods leaves the port.

The step is one of several initiatives implemented recently, including clearing containers within 24 hours, reducing containers time at the port to 4 days from 14 days, in addition to providing electronic data.

The initiative is part of Vision 2030’s plans to make the Kingdom an international logistics platform.
