The total value of customs duties transferred by the UAE to Saudi Arabia amounted to SAR 466 million (AED 456.1 million) in 2018, the highest among the GCC nations, the UAE's Federal Customs Authority (FCA) said on Wednesday.

Oman came in second with a transfer value of AED 241.4 million followed by Kuwait at AED 118.1 million and Bahrain at AED 48.3 million, the authority said in a statement published by state news agency WAM.

Overall, the total value of customs duties transferred by the UAE to the GCC countries amounted to about AED1 billion last year, which included transfers from the GCC to local customs administrations.

The transfers were done through the automated transfer customs duty system, which was launched in October 2015.
