Saudi Arabian budget airline Flydeal will operate an all Airbus A320 fleet in the future, Saudi Press Agency has reported, citing a company statement.
The airline is to take delivery of 30 A320neo jets that were ordered by its parent, state-owned Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia), at the Paris Air Show in June, it said in the statement.
The order also included additional purchasing options for another 20 jets, driven by the increasing demand in the Kingdom and the airline’s local as well as international expansionary strategy.
These jets will start to arrive by 2021, and will significantly boost the airline fleet, in line with its operating plans.
Flydeal’s current fleet comprises 11 A320 jets.
In June, Saudia decided to expand its order of the existing Airbus A320neo family of planes from 35 to as many as 100, including 35 options. The additional firm order takes the airline’s order from the A320neo family of aircraft to 65, of which 15 are the new Airbus A321XLR planes.
