Saudi Arabia’s cabinet has approved the rules and regulations of the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, the official gazette said.

Under these regulations, the exhibitions’ authority does not interject with exhibitory work conducted by related agencies.

The Riyadh-based authority, a financially and administratively independent entity is organizationally connected to the Prime Minister, can open other offices across the Kingdom, if needed.

It aims to develop the exhibition and conference sector with all its elements and potentials, to enhance its contribution to the national economy, and to eliminate any hurdles to its growth, in accordance with the best international practices.

The authority will also set related plans and strategies, issue approvals for both government and non-government agencies, monitor all sector activities, and coordinate with relevant authorities to bolster investments in the sector.

It will also work on highlighting the Kingdom as an attractive exhibitions and conferences destination, training national cadres, attracting international exhibitions and conferences, and innovating related events that reflect the Kingdom’s identity.

The General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences’ chairman is to be appointed by a royal decree. The board will include four government representatives and three experts.
