The total production capacity of GCC petrochemical companies reached 177 million tons in 2018, up 8.5 percent year-on-year (YoY), Al-Eqtisadiah reported, citing Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, secretary general of the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemicals Federation (GPCA).
GCC capacity growth is ranked second among global peers, following China which topped the list with an 11.4 percent YoY increase, he said.
Although GCC petrochemical firms were focused on expanding their production capacity, value-adding products and strong growth rates, the industry has maintained the highest rates of sustainability, environmental performance, and industrial security and safety, he added.
