18/08/2019 Argaam

Muvi Cinemas, the first nationally-owned and operated cinema in Saudi Arabia, opened its doors to the public on Friday, Saudi Gazette reported.

The Kingdom’s Minister of Media Turki bin Abdullah Al Shabanah had inaugurated the first branch of the cinema chain at the Mall of Arabia in Jeddah last Tuesday.

The cinema can accommodate 1,950 guests in 15 screens, which includes 21 seats catering to visitors with special needs.   Another feature includes “ScreenX”, in which films are shown via multiple projectors that create a panoramic image on the main screen and side walls simultaneously.

Meanwhile, the cinema chain plans to launch a “junior screen” catering to children, which will include a slide to allow them access to their movie.

Muvi Cinemas aims to launch 250 screens across the Kingdom in the next 24 months.
