Saudi Arabia’s King Salman has issued a royal decree appointing Bandar bin Ibrahim bin Abdullah Alkhorayef as Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources.
The industry and mineral resources ministry was also newly established after a decree separated It from the Ministry of Energy on Friday.
Bandar Alkhorayef, a top executive at Alkhorayef Group, is also vice-chairman of the Arabian Agricultural Services Company (ARASCO), and is board member at Riyadh Chamber, the Saudi Economic Association, and the Saudi industrial council.
The new minister also served as chairman of Middle East Food Solutions Co. (MEFSCO) and Al-Dukheil Group, as well as a member of the board of Castrol oils and lubricants.
Alkhorayef has been the chief executive officer of Alkhorayef Painting Solutions since 1993, and a member of the board of Alkhorayef Commercial Company, Alkhorayef Petroleum Company, and MaCeen Capital.
He has also served as deputy-director of Riyadh Chamber’s industrial committee, and general manager of Al Nakheel Paper Industries Company.
The new industry and mineral resources minister was a board member at AlWatan newspaper from 2000 to 2016, Amaco from 2009 to 2013, Saudi Finance House from 2009 to 2011, and Sama Airlines for five years starting from 2005.
Alkhorayef, who has 25 years of experience in leading industrial, commercial and investment positions, has a B.A. in International Agriculture from King Saud University and several certificates in business administration and international business from Switzerland’s IMD.
