Maaden Aluminium, Radian ink deal to process 40,000 tpa of aluminum by-products

Maaden Aluminium Co. (MAC), an affiliate of Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden), has signed a high tech cooperation agreement with Radian Oil and Gas Services Co. to provide innovative environmental solutions, process aluminum smelting by-products, and extract raw aluminum for manufacturing purposes.

The aluminum maker has agreed with Radian to process between 30,000 and 40,000 tons annually of aluminum by-products, extract raw aluminum to reuse in manufacturing processes, the company said in a statement.

The first of its kind deal in Saudi Arabia proves both companies’ interest in enhancing sustainability and environment protection.

“The project is part of Maaden’s strategy to maximize benefit from raw mineral resources, energy consumption rationalization, production cost cuts and expansion of Maaden’s activities in boosting the local content,” said Ali Al-Qahtani, chairman of Maaden Aluminium.

Maaden Aluminium is a joint venture between Maaden and the US-based Alcoa, with investments amounting to SAR 40 billion.
