Lucid Motors in talks with Saudi investors to build EV factory in Saudi Arabia: CEO

Peter Rawlinson, chief technology officer at Lucid Motors, said that his company is discussing with Saudi investors building an electric vehicle (EV) actory in the Kingdom, but the date is to be determined, Al-Eqtisadiah reported.

 

Rawlinson also said he hopes the car would for available for import in the Kingdom under the current regulations, and that the Saudis would enjoy the experience.

 

The US-based factory will start production with 15,000 EVs in 2021, as work will begin at the Arizona factory by the end of next year. Prices will exceed $100,000, followed by various versions to be produced at lower price range, he said.

 

The vehicle will run at over 230 miles per hour, and some will reach 240 miles per hour, running without charge for 400 kilometers, he added.

 

The Public Investment Fund signed in September an investment agreement worth $1 billion (SAR 3.75 billion) with Lucid Motors to launch the first commercial production of Lucid Air in 2020.
