Saudi Arabia advanced three places in the e-commerce index issued by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, to rank 49th globally in 2019 compared to 52nd position last year.

The report indicated that the improvement achieved by the Kingdom came from two criteria: the proportion of Internet usage among individuals increasing to 93% and the rising postal reliability standard, which improved to 93% from 80% in the past year.

In the Arab world, the UAE topped the list, climbing 5 places to 28th position compared to 33rd ranking last year.

The top 10 countries in the United Nations e-commerce index went to Netherlands, Switzerland, Singapore, Finland, the UK, Denmark, Norway, Ireland, Germany, and Australia, respectively.

A total of 152 countries were assessed in the report that reviews a number of criteria including safe access to internet servers, postal services infrastructure, proportion of internet use among individuals and epayment services among others.
