Saudi Arabia launches round three of National Renewable Energy Program

The Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy issued the request for qualifications (RFQ) for Round Three of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP).

 

The round comprises of 4 solar photovoltaic (PV) projects with a combined generation capacity of 1,200 megawatts (MW), it said in a statement.

 

The projects will be divided into 2 categories, namely:-

 

-Category A - Targets smaller companies, including Layla 80 MW and Wadi Al Dawaser 120 MW solar PV projects

-Category B- Targets Saad 300 MW and Ar Rass 700 MW solar PV projects

 

“The projects within Round Three will carry a minimum requirement of 17% local content as calculated by the mechanisms defined by the Local Content & Government Procurement Authority,” Eng. Faisal Alyemni, head of REPDO, said.

 

The RFQ window for the Round Three projects closes on Feb. 6, 2020, when deadline for Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) submissions occurs.
