National Petrochemical Industrial Company (NATPET) resumed operations at its propylene and polypropylene facilities (PP) in Yanbu Industrial City, the company said in a statement to Argaam.

NATPET has successfully completed trial operations at the plant, which completed 72 hours of continuous operation.

The plant has also passed technical tests today, March 1. Accordingly, all units are ready to operate with full capacity.

In October 2018, a fire erupted at NATPET’s factory in Yanbu, leading the company to suspend its operations, Argaam reported.

In February 2019, the company signed a SAR 244 million rehabilitation contract of the PP units affected by the blaze, and expected the unit to resume production by September 2019.

Alujain Corp expected last December NATPET polypropylene plant to begin production in January 2020.

NATPET is 57.4% owned by Alujain.
