Saudi POS transactions rise 34% to SAR 33.6 bln in October 2020

Point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia saw a 34% year-on-year (YoY) rise to around SAR 33.6 billion in October 2020, from SAR 25.1 billion during the same month last year, figures from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.

Data also showed that 313.6 million transactions were processed through nearly 657,300 points of sale.

POS transactions represent what is spent by consumers using their ATM cards and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

On a yearly basis, cash withdrawals declined 16% to SAR 52.9 billion in October 2020, from SAR 62.6 billion last year.

The withdrawals were processed through 18,600 ATMs in October 2020, and through 150.4 million transactions.
