The Red Sea Development Co. (TRSDC) signed one of the largest construction and design contracts with AlKifah Contracting Co. to develop residential buildings in the workers accommodation at the Red Sea project, the company said in a statement.
The 40 residential buildings consist of single and double housing units in the workers village.
The staff accommodation, which has 1.5 million square meters, includes administrative offices, housing units, a 144-room hotel, along with a large number of commercial and recreational facilities (such as hospitals, schools, sports clubs and restaurants) that will serve the company's employees as well as the project site workers.
The village will host about 14,000 employees, who will work at site by the launch of the first phase in Q4 2022.
John Pagano, Chief Executive Officer of TRSDC, stated that the prefabricated concrete panels will be prepared in the plant that was established by AlKifah Contracting around the scope of the project.
Those panels will be transferred to the sites specified for them at the project site, to be installed there.
This will provide many job opportunities for citizens and reduce carbon emissions at the project site by eliminating approximately 10 million km of transportation, which in turn will reduce carbon emissions by 10,000 tons.
