Sadara Basic Services Co. announced today, March 25, 2021, that its parent company, Sadara Chemical Co., shut down its mixed feed cracker unit for immediate maintenance.
The mixed feed cracker ran into a technical issue of a gas compressor on March 16, 2021.
The accident did not result in any environmental impairment or personal injuries, the company said, adding it is currently working to repair the unit and mitigate the impact to its customers.
Thus, Sadara Chemical will temporarily face non-availability or limited availability of ethylene and propylene, which will negatively impact production of related downstream products for an estimated period of 30 days.
