GlobeMed Saudi was chosen in 2017 to manage medical claims to support the Ministry of Health’s efforts in managing the process of medical referrals and hospitalization in the private sector across the Kingdom, deputy general manager Ahmed Irani told Argaam in an interview.

He added that the company is managing the medical referral cases from service providers in the public sector to their counterparts in the private sector. This process aims to provide a better experience for patients while ensuring a smooth progress of the process, along with monitoring and controlling in an accurate and effective way through one channel.

The referral processes include citizens and residents who have eligibility for treatment at the expense of the Ministry of Health. They include referrals for emergency and COVID-19 cases to the private sector.

The company's work revolves around managing the insured person’s medical benefits with the insurance entities that have a contract with the firm. This includes managing insurance policies and medical coverage programs, medical networks services, issuing coverage decisions and approvals, reviewing and checking bills, making settlements with healthcare providers, and others.

He indicated that GlobeMed Saudi is currently providing services to 1.5 million individuals in the Kingdom through insurance firms contracting with it, which includes Arabia Insurance Cooperative Co. (AICC), Al-Ahlia Insurance Co., Amana Cooperative Insurance Co., Salama Cooperative Insurance Co., Solidarity Saudi Takaful Co., and Saudi Enaya Cooperative Insurance Co.

GlobeMed’s strategic plan aims to promote the health insurance and healthcare sector in the Kingdom through cooperation with the public and private sectors.

Regarding the company's intention to offer its shares on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul), Irani said that no practical steps have been taken in this context, indicating that GlobeMed Saudi is committed to the Saudi Central Bank’s (SAMA) decisions regarding any mechanism of offering companies' shares.

It is noteworthy that GlobeMed Saudi has been in Saudi Arabia since 2004, and it is part of the GlobeMed Group, the leader in managing healthcare benefits across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

It was the first claims management firm to obtain a license from SAMA in 2008 and a qualification from the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) in 2009.
