The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) issued a circular to all airlines operating from the Kingdom’s airports, banning flights from and to certain countries.

The new procedures followed the outbreak of a new coronavirus variant in a number of countries.

GACA ordered the airlines to not allow direct or indirect flights, without an advance permission from the competent authorities, to Ethiopia, the UAE, and Vietnam, in addition to the 20 other countries on the ban list.

GACA also banned the entry of expats from Ethiopia, the UAE, Vietnam, and Afghanistan - except for those who spent 14 days outside of these four countries - in addition to the countries on the previous ban list.

GACA requested air carriers to suspend flights between these countries, and apply the quarantine period, except for those who will return before 11pm today, July 4.
