National Agricultural Development Co. (NADEC) said the company is in the process of completing the construction works on the 30 megawatts (MW) solar energy project in Haradh.
The first phase will be completed by August-end by operating 10 MW, with the final phase of the project with a capacity of 30 MW will be completed by Oct. 31. The company estimated the commercial operation to start at that time.
NADEC said that 85% of the construction work on the project is completed, noting the delay in project execution work was due to COVID-19, leading to a force majeure situation and impact of global supply chains, resulting in the postponement of supply and implementation activities.
The financial impact will be announced upon completing construction work and the commencement of commercial operation.
In July 2019, NADEC announced the signing of a solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with France-based World Energy Actor (ENGIE) for 25 years to set up a 30 MW solar power project in NADEC City, Haradh, through integration with the company’s current energy resources, Argaam reported.
The company previously expected the project to begin commercial operation on Oct. 31, 2020.
