Saudi Arabia is committed to the peaceful use of nuclear energy in the different fields, including the Saudi National Atomic Energy Project (SNAEP), said Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman.

The Kingdom closely cooperates with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the development of the National Atomic Energy Project, said Prince Abdulaziz, while thanking the agency for offering consultancy and technical services.

Saudi Arabia reiterates the importance of countries around the world abiding by the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), the minister added during an IAEA annual general conference.

The Kingdom called upon the international community to further the goal of achieving nuclear disarmament around the world.

Prince Abdulaziz also voiced concerns about Iran’s noncompliance with the nuclear disarmament, emphasizing the importance of preventing the spread of nuclear weapons in the Middle East and promoting cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear power.

Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of implementing the NPT Treaty extension in May 1995 for the pursuit of nuclear disarmament in the Middle East.
